Dr Madhuri Kodliwadmath's experience of winning BSAS award

My experience of the BEST awards has been memorable and pleasant. I feel both honoured and humbled to have received this prestigious and important award.

I was very pleased to be nominated for a prestigious award, and undergoing each stage of the selection process was a wonderful experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the panel presentation as I could speak about the work that I am interested in and share my knowledge and thoughts on the subject with the Wales Deanery panel. When I was informed that I was one of the finalists I felt extremely excited and thankful that I had overcome each stage of the process. Attending the award ceremony was a unique experience as I was able to meet people from the Wales Deanery and my fellow colleagues and doctors that are also passionate in their field of work. I had achieved the BSAS award for Clinical Service Innovation and I was honoured to receive this along with the bursary for further education to broaden my knowledge and develop more skills in Obs & Gynae.

This award was recognised and welcomed in India where the Indian Medical Association appreciated the work I had done and gave me a platform to help and provide charitable service to the people in India which I am involved with actively at present. They gave a felicitation for the award and this encouraged me to put into practice the training I have done in the UK and use it for good intentions in India. I felt very delighted and was motivated to do more. I want other doctors to also participate in the award selection process as well as nominate other colleagues who they think can contribute to the health service with their achievements and ideas.

I am extremely honoured to be receiving such an important award. I am earnestly grateful for the recognition I have received for my work, because I am very sure that every other nominee for this award was as capable, if not more, of winning this award.

It is so wonderful that the Wales Deanery is able to host this event each year. This will definitely attract and inspire more professionals to work towards excellence and deliver high quality work to the NHS and the Wales Deanery. It was a great opportunity for me. It is a remarkable experience that is an opportunity to excel in the field and develop further. I am grateful and extend my most sincere thanks to the Wales Deanery for this honour and Professor Derek Gallen from whom I received this award.
