Aims of the equality and diversity strategy
To achieve this, HEIW must:
Show strong and unambiguous leadership promoting the principles of equality and diversity.
Ensure that equality, diversity and opportunity is embedded throughout the organisation through the current infrastructure that supports E&D and eliminates discrimination (on the grounds of age, disability, gender, race, religion or belief and sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity) against any member of staff, faculty, trainees or students.
Ensure the development of appropriate skills and awareness in all staff and trainees.
Ensure that it is fully compliant with employment law, the Equality Act 2010, the Human Rights Act and other relevant legislation that may be enacted and amended in the future, professional bodies' standards and NHS Wales policy, to avoid unfair discrimination against staff, trainees or trainers.
